Background
In March 2003, the FTA, a foreign trade association headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, formally established the BSCI, a business compliance society, with the aim of developing implementation measures and procedures for the European business community's compliance with social responsibility programs. BSCI has absorbed more than 1,300 members from 11 countries, most of which are European retailers and buyers. They will actively promote their BSCI audits in countries around the world to improve their human rights situation.
